Witnesses sought after young man attacked in Southgate and cycle stolen



Police in Crawley are seeking witnesses to an attack on a man and the theft of his cycle.

At 1150am on Saturday 24 April at the entrance to an alleyway at the junction of Baker Close and Malthouse Road, near Southgate shops in Crawley, a 22-year old local man was attacked by a young man and struck on the head before having his pedal cycle stolen.

The bike stolen was a Black Cannondale FSI 2017 Mountain model.

The victim sustained cuts and bruises.

The assailant was with two other young men.

PC Scott Parry said; “If you witnessed the incident or have any any other information about those involved, or the bike, please contact us either online  or by calling 101, quoting serial 519 of 24/04.”


41-year-old man arrested in Crawley after reports of threats made with knife



Police responded to a report of a man with a knife making threats inside a property at Wren Court, Tilgate Way, Crawley at 10.45am on Thursday (15 July).

Officers attended and safely detained the suspect, a 41-year-old man. No injuries have been reported. 

Chief Inspector Shane Baker; District Commander for Crawley said:

“We are thankful to the public for their patience and understanding while this incident was ongoing.

“During this incident, a distraction device was used, which may have caused some alarm and disruption to residents.

“We would like to assure the public that nobody was harmed and there is not believed to be any ongoing threat to the local community at this time.”
