An event was held at the fire station, in Ifield Avenue, on Friday (13 January) to celebrate the new facilities available.

The work included the upgrading facilities for fire crews, training, meeting and office areas.

The event was attended by Henry Smith, MP for Crawley.

The event was also attended by David Barling, Cabinet Member for Residents Services at West Sussex County Council.

Trees with commemorative plaques were planted in the station grounds to mark the occasion.

The refurbished training and meeting rooms are available to community groups to use and bookings are already being taken.

The updated meeting facilities will be used to hold regular multi-agency meetings and joint training events.

Crawley Fire Station is staffed 24 hours a day, providing fire cover for the town and local area.

David Barling, Cabinet Member for Residents Services, said: “We are really pleased to make this investment in Crawley Fire Station.

“A fire station is at a heart of a community and I am sure these updated facilities will be well-used by our hardworking fire crews and the local community.”

Also at Friday’s event were a local county councillor, Gavin Watts the Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Kieran Amos, Area manager for operations, and the Eastern operations group management team from the fire service.

Any community groups who want to enquire about using the training rooms should email or call 01293 535660.
