Two arrested in Ifield after threatening behaviour and possession of an offensive weapon

Two people have been arrested following a disturbance outside an Islamic community centre in Crawley.

Police were called to Bonnetts Lane in Ifield at 7.39pm on Wednesday (September 11), where a man was threatening people in the area, including some who were attending the centre.

A 56-year-old man from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

A 56-year-old woman, also from Crawley, was arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Both remain in custody at this stage.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have captured video or photos of it is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 1250 of 11/09.

26-year-old man tasered and arrested at Crawley hotel after threatening people with hammer

A 26-year-old man has been arrested at a Crawley hotel after he threatened people around him with a hammer.

Police were called to The Grange Hotel in Crawley at 3pm on Tuesday (4 August).

He was subsequently tasered to ensure the safety of members of the public and officers.

The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He has since been released under investigation, but detained under the Mental Health Act.
