Travellers move in to Forge Wood

Residents in Forge Wood have awoken to find a large contingent of travellers camped on private land next to the Primary School.

Police visted earlier in the day to speak to the travellers and a local resident said that action had been taken to ensure the appropriate measures were being taken to move them off the land.

A spokesperson for Crawley Borough Council said:

“It’s private land. As far as we’re aware private bailiffs have been notified and the community have been served notice.

If they’re still there tomorrow I anticipate enforcement action will be taken.”

Can you help identify this man after an assault behind KFC left man with fractured eye socket and broken nose

Police would like to speak to him in relation to an assault on a man in Crawley.

Officers were called on Monday, May 18 to a report of an altercation in the car park behind KFC in High Street around 7pm.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, where it was confirmed he’d suffered a broken nose and a fractured eye socket.

Police believe the man pictured could help with their enquiries.

He is thought to be a delivery driver and was wearing a dark coloured motorcycle jacket and carrying a motorcycle helmet.

Anyone who recognises him, or who witnessed the incident and has any information that could help police with their investigation, is asked to make contact online or by calling 101 quoting serial 1305 of 18/05.
