Temperatures could exceed 30°C in Crawley on Friday

Today people will start to feel the rise in temperature as potentially the hottest day of the year fast approaches.

With temperatures expected to reach around 25°C (77°F) across Crawley today it will still be cooler than the scorching day expected tomorrow.

Friday will see soaring temperatures with very little cloud cover, with expected temperature of 30°C (86°F).

Other areas in the UK could see the temperature exceed 33.4°C (92.12°F) which would make it officially the hottest day of the year.

Advice is to try to stay out of the suns direct light as much as you can and to stay hydrated.

But faster than the heat spike arrives the high temperatures will drop away over the weekend with a high of 23°C (73.4°F) on Saturday and by Monday the chance of heavy rain to start the new week.

Crawley could experience four days of thunderstorms from Monday

Severe thunderstorms are expected to bring some relief from the stifling weather over the next four days across Crawley.

Most of the UK has been given a yellow warning by the Met office for the thunderstorms.

But whilst there will be four days of the storms, the actual locations and timings of them have ‘significant uncertainty in location and timing’.

Despite the storms coming the heat wave will continue through till the middle of the week before it slowly starts to cool down from thursday.

This will mean a very muggy week ahead for most people with spells of variable cloud but followed by long sunny spells.
