Teenager hiding in bush arrested in Crawley for drugs offence

A man has been arrested after he was spotted by officers hiding in a bush in Crawley.



Officers attended Fitzaland Road, Horsham at 2.10am on Friday (June 7) for a welfare check on a man.

An area search was conducted and officers spotted a man in the bushes in Crawley who claimed he was waiting for a taxi to go home.

Vigilant officers then spotted a number of suspicious packages on the floor, which turned out to be around 100 wraps of heroin and cocaine.

An 18-year-old man from Sutton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug. He has been released under investigation and enquiries are ongoing.

The arrest falls under Operation Fortress, the force’s continuing response to ‘County Lines’ activity within Sussex, with a visible policing presence in three main areas where drug dealing is known to happen.

Police would like to speak to him in relation to an assault on a man in Crawley.

Officers were called on Monday, May 18 to a report of an altercation in the car park behind KFC in High Street around 7pm.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, where it was confirmed he’d suffered a broken nose and a fractured eye socket.

Police believe the man pictured could help with their enquiries.

He is thought to be a delivery driver and was wearing a dark coloured motorcycle jacket and carrying a motorcycle helmet.
