Furniture Village opens its doors in Crawley’s County Oak Retail Park

Crawley welcomes Furniture Village who will open a brand-new store in County Oak retail park this Boxing Day.

The new location offers a Carpetright concession, providing a one-stop-shop for customers looking to update their homes.

Visitors to the new Furniture Village store will be invited to create their ‘home in one’, by exploring collections for every room of the house, from sofas to beds to dining.

Charlie Harrison, Commercial Director at Furniture Village, comments:

“With much of the UK under lockdown, I’m delighted we’ve been able to open our new store in Crawley. County Oak is a fantastic shopping destination and the ideal choice for Furniture Village.

“It’s been a challenging year for everyone, but I am incredibly proud of the Furniture Village team which continues to offer industry-leading quality, choice and service. As well as Family Retailer of the Year, we’ve also been awarded National Bed Retailer of the Year so I’m particularly looking forward to welcoming customers to our new bed department.”

The store will see a team of 11 expert sales consultants offering valuable insights and advice to customers, all made possible thanks to enhanced Covid-19 safety measures.

These include temperature checks, PPE for all staff and hand sanitisation stations, along with an appointment booking system which can be accessed via the website.

Charlie Harrison, Commercial Director at Furniture Village, adds:

“Customer safety is still, and will continue to be, a priority for us. The feedback from all of our existing stores continues to be overwhelmingly positive, with the appointment booking system providing reassurance and exceptional service for customers.”

The store will open at 9am on Saturday 26th December 2020. Opening offers include Sale discounts of up to 50% plus an additional £50 off every £500 spent.

New jobs created as AO trials store-within-a-store in Tesco Gatwick

Electricals retailer AO has announced today its in-store experience has opened at Tesco Extra in Gatwick.

This is one of five stores-within-a-store as part of a partnership trial with Tesco.  The opening is part of AO’s strategy to reach even more customers with a huge range of products and awesome service and also marks the online retailer’s first in-store presence.

The move sees AO expand the electricals category for Tesco customers in its Gatwick store.

Customers will be able to browse and purchase from all the categories (excluding mobile phones) available on using its world class product content.  This includes larger electricals such as washing machines, fridges, and TVs that can be ordered for home delivery as well a range of smaller products such as kettles and toasters that can be purchased off the shelf.

AO occupies 2,120 square foot of retail floor space and is situated in the right-hand side of the mezzanine level of the store and features facilities such as a dedicated open kitchen area with breakfast bar where customers can ask for help and advice from our instore experts, digital displays, TV wall and ‘AO-To-Go’ section.

The AO store has welcomed customers for the first time at 09:00 today and to celebrate the opening, customers will be offered a range of deals.

Commenting on the announcement, AO’s COO, Danny Emmett said: “Tesco serves millions of people each week and we have always said that AO delivers the best way to buy electricals so we’re excited about bringing the AO experience to even more customers through this in-store trial.”

Tony Hoggett, Tesco’s Chief Operating Officer, commented:

“We’re excited about this new partnership with AO which will give customers access to a broader range of products and AO’s technical expertise on electrical goods. Our Gatwick Extra store is one of five stores to benefit from an AO concession and we’re looking forward to seeing how customers respond to this trial.”

The opening of the new store has also created six new jobs, all of which will be staffed by AO colleagues and have been trained by long-experienced “AOers”, helping them to feel part of the wider AO business and understand its unique culture.

The new roles will assist customers in choosing the right electrical product for them and follow the AO promise of outstanding service.

Suzanne Bale, Store Manager at the AO Gatwick store, said:

“We’re thrilled to welcome the AO team and to show our customers the new AO store. We look forward to offering customers access to our full range of electricals products, so we can bring exceptional online content, product expertise and customer service in a store environment.”

The store is open 9am – 8pm Monday – Saturday and 10am –4pm on Sunday. This is the second store now open as part of a six-month trial.
