Fire devastates building at 9th Century Pub in Horley

A fire that has ripped through part of the old pub is currently been dealt with by fire services

Surrey Fire Brigade along with Sussex are in attendance.

There are 4 pumps and a ladder currently being used, 2 pumps are from Sussex.

Posting on their twitter account, Salfords Fire station posted photos from the scene.

According to a spokesperson from Surrey Fire the blaze has not spread from the pub and is now being contained.

Two puppies die after fire in Bewbush as power is cut to surrounding area

Crawley Council has set up a refuge area next to the town hall.

Around 4:10am this morning 6 fire engines attended a flat fire in Ganymede Court in Bewbush.

To assist the fire service the ambulance service also attended as residents were evacuated. Two flats were badly damaged in the blaze.

All electricity to the surrounding properties was turned off and Crawley Council set up a refuge area next to the town hall.

Residents were evacuated while West Sussex Fire and Rescue brought the fire under control. One woman was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

West Sussex Fire reported that unfortunately two rescued puppies died.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the deliberate fire.

Detective Inspector Pauline Lane said: โ€œWe are treating this fire as a deliberate act and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the fire being started or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area.โ€

Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with information should report onlineย or ring 101 quoting Operation Clayhill.
