Fire crews from across Sussex and Surrey called to house fire in Pease Pottage

A house fire in Pease Pottage this morning called for crews from Crawley, Horsham, Turners Hill, Billinghurst and Salfords to attend.

Crews were called to the fire in a domestic property off Forest Road near Pease Pottage at 8am this morning (13th May).

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & rescue Service said:

“Our Technical Rescue Unit are in attendance and using the service drone, and we also have the water carrier from Burgess Hill and the Command Support Unit from Haywards Heath Fire Station on scene.

“The fire is in the roof space of the property, and was well alight when crews arrived.

“Firefighters are working hard to ensure the fire is extinguished, with the TRU using the drone to provide thermal imaging to the crews on the ground.

“Residents living nearby are asked to keep their windows and doors closed while this fire is extinguished.”

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service posted a video with an update of the situation.

Fire rips through Royal British Legion building in Horley

Six fire crews were called to a fire this morning in Horley.

A fire had broken out at the Royal British Legion with flames lashing out from the roof and smoke being seen for many miles around.

The crews were able to quickly deal with the incident and photos released by Salfords Fire Crew show how the flames were dampened down.

Crews will remain on scene all morning making the building safe and investigating the cause of the fire.
