Councillor John Stanley for Ifield passes away



Ifield councillor John Stanley passed away last Tuesday it has been announced.

The councillor had represented Ifield on two occasions.

Leader of the Council Peter Lamb was the first to lead the tributes saying:

“John loved this council, he loved our town and he loved Ifield most of all. He was always busy sorting out one problem or another and getting involved with the latest issue in the community. I know his presence will be missed far beyond the Town Hall.”

Johns warmth touched all ages within the community and Eli Barrott, Youth and Students officer for Crawley Labour tweeted:

A minute’s silence is to be observed at the next Full Council meeting on the 18th October as mark of respect and the Crawley flag will fly at half-mast on the day of the funeral.

Funeral details have not been released yet.

    A childhood friend. Some really great memories of our times playing out in reedings. John would always do the organisation. Such a kind soul. Such a sad thing to learn. He was a kind friendly face about the place. I am genuinely saddened by learning of his passing. God bless you john. My brother said and abbotfields apple fight may not be out of the question You would of loved organising that when we were kiddies.

    John was always there to help others, He was a warm caring person who loved his job and John will be missed a lot from his colleagues etc. John would send text to see how I was and it’s come to a great big shock that he is no longer here.

    One of my School Buddies – Ifield Communtity College, He was bullied at School for his slight stoop in his walk, we walked to School together and lost touch in 1987, Such a lovely guy. Always tried to see the good in people. Im shocked and saddend to hear of his passing. Oneday John we will walk to School again together – your just slightly ahead at the moment – until we meet again.

    John you were an inspiration I will always remember your great humour the many laughs we had during the ten years we worked together as colleagues at Gatwick. You made so many laugh, brightened up the day. And not forgetting the two txt messages twice a day, the last one again showing up your great humour. You will be very much missed RIP John xxx
