Bar 7 saved as planning application for flats is rejected

The popular Crawley bar started an online petition that raised hundreds of support.

The future of Bar 7 is safe after councilors voted to reject the plans for flats.

There was much concern over whether a planning application for 24 flats that would be built on the current site would be allowed.

The LGBTQ bar has become a popular venue right across Sussex, partly due to it being the only bar of its kind between London and Brighton.

Patrons who regularly use the premises had expressed their outrage at the proposal.

The application was made by Clifford Tee & Gale Limited on behalf of their client but has been described by some residents as ‘hideous’.

Planning officers expressed their concerns giving 10 reasons why they rejected the proposal, including inadequate amenity space, environmental noise concerns and doesn’t address the significance of Crawley’s heritage assets.
