The Saturday Film Show with Michael Gooch – Weekly Roundup

Michael Gooch from Runway Radio realises that not everyone can tune in to The Saturday Film Show for the full 3 hours (Saturday’s 1pm till 4pm) and that some people might miss out on a crucial slice of Film News Pie or Film Rumour Fries.

Which is why Michael has agreed to write this weekly article for CN24, catching you up with what you potentially missed from the show!

GOOD AFTERNOON, you’re listening to Runway Radio with me, Michael Gooch, with you until 4pm today!!!… sorry, force of habit.

The first thing we learned this week was that the most profitable film of 2017 so far was Get Out, the mystery thriller starring Daniel Kaluuya has so far grossed a worldwide total of £135,718,592! Which actually isn’t a lot for a blockbuster film.

But a massive achievement since the film was only made on a budget of £3.1 million!!!

Somewhere online, I managed to find 2 concept posters for Star Wars 9, which hasn’t even started production yet. One featured the light side (Rey, Finn, Poe, Leia etc) and the other of the dark side (Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren, Supreme Leader Snoke etc).

Where’s Luke I hear you ask?

Well, Luke Skywalker was on both posters, which is strange since Luke is a good guy, right? If these posters are 100% real, this could imply that Luke turns to/has been on the dark side, and a potential villain…

If you hadn’t heard already, Daniel Craig will be playing James bond in the upcoming Bond 25 film, released November 2019. This was at great surprise to most, since in an interview he had stated how he’d rather slash his wrists than play James Bond again.

The actor has finally spoken out as to this sudden change of mind. It comes down to director, Sam Mendes, leaving the franchise, as the pair had had many creative differences in the past for the character.

It is also believed that Craig has signed on to do 2 more Bond films; One being Bond 25, which is the production title, the rumoured title being Shatterhand and will see Bond take on ‘the Union’ and a blind criminal genius. The second film has yet to enter pre-production.
