Fatal collision closes M23 for over 7 hours

The M23 was shut for over 7 hours in the early hours of this morning (28th Sept) following a fatal collision that involved two cars.

A man in his late 20’s died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The southbound carriageway was closed from Junction 8 to 9 just before midnight.

The highways agency reported queues of motorists stuck while the incident was handled.

Just after 7am this morning the police reopened the motorway allowing the traffic to flow.
